Onkyo Launches First Dolby Pro Logic IIz Receiver

Onkyo's new TX-SR607 receiver goes where no sound component has ever gone before by providing Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which gives you vertically-oriented sound in addition to the normal surround sound.
The vertical sound field is created by two speakers which sit above the television, and will provide a noticeable effect in situations where something like an airplane flyover is on screen. The 7.2 system features 90 watts of power per channel, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD support, plus HDMI switching with 1080p support for Deep Color and x.v.Color.
Onkyo also launched the TX-SR307 and TX-SR507, which are only 5.1 and lack the
Dolby Pro Logic IIz. They have 65 and 80 watts per channel, respectively, but feature the same HDMI support as its more sophisticated sibling. The 307, 507 and 607 will all be out in April for $300, $400 and $600, respectively.

Wolfking’s Warrior Xxtreme gets reviewed

Are you ready for a blast of the obvious? If so, head on down to the read link and take a look at Extreme Tech's review of the Warrior Xxtreme. Wolfking's latest gamepad is obviously aiming at a smallish niche, and while it proved to be quite the device to have while gaming, it's not exactly the easiest thing to pound out a dissertation on. 'Course, we sincerely hope you didn't expect anything other than precisely those results, and it should be noted that Wolfking did a swell job of catering to righties and southpaws alike. Overall, we've serious doubts that touch-typists will be keen on swapping out their ergonomic split 'board for this thing, but hunt-and-peckers that spend the majority of their time in WoW raids may find lots to love.

Backpack Has Speakers, Stormtrooper Styling

The Reppo II Backpack is a product design by Joonas Saaranen. As you may be able to tell being the astute observer that I know you are, it's a hardshell backpack with speakers. It was designed with those people in mind that want to subject you to their music no matter how much it sucks. Like Captain Deaf of the USS Busted Eardrums I had to sit next to on the bus yesterday. He was wearing headphones, but he had the volume up so loud the whole bus could probably hear. I mean WTF? I was going to grab his iPod and smash it, but I knew that things would work themselves out. And you know what? I was right. He got mugged after getting off at his stop. Poor bastard, no more music for him. Say, speaking of music -- I've got a nice iPod for sale. Great condition, comes with a pair of really loud headphones

Britz International's speaker delivers 2.1-channels of sound from your PC, with the .1 coming from the rounded HR Giger-inspired sub. No word yet on pricing, but we should know more as the launch date nears. Hermione may be worth an import for folks who want to match their all-black computer case and monitor

Nokia's aeon "full surface screen" cellphone concept Price:$ 399.00

Nokia's research and development team have kicked it up a gear with an attractive "aeon" concept phone showing up in the R&D section of the company's website. The most prominent design feature of aeon is a touchscreen that stretches over the full surface area of the phone, similar to BenQ-Siemens's Black box concept phone we saw recently. Currently mobile technology isn't quite up to realizing this fantasy, but we'll sleep better tonight knowing that at least one of the cellphone industry's biggest names shares the same dream as we do -- BenQ's dream didn't count, unfortunately.
